Sample Recordings

Wonderful Tonight.mp3

This studio style recording was done spread over several days. The drums were recorded to a click track with the other instruments playing along for scratch tracks. The other instruments were overdubbed afterwards and layered background vocals were added.

Nowhere Man.mp3

This recording was done during a band practice using the Mackie Onyx 1640. There were no overdubs, just the live recording with all instruments playing in the room at the same time.

Engineer Bio

Dave Runton has been doing home recording since 1988. He started using a Yamaha MT100 4-track cassette recorder. This progressed to a Tascam 8-track cassette recorder to ADATs, and eventually to computer based recording. The knowledge learned over time has been based on real application of recording, not learning in a lecture hall. The need to get the best out of cassette has lead to a strong sense of experimentation and "getting it right" the first time - applying this knowledge to the power of the Digital Audio Workstation gives high quality results.

Dave has been playing guitar since 1983 and bass since 1990. He has played in such "well-known" bands as The Thumbscrews, Impression, Memory of Junior, Acoustically Sound, Desert Highway Band, and Floating Ground. He was a live sound engineer for four years serving Atlanta and Rome, Georgia area bands in the early 90's.

Dave has an Electrical Engineering degree from Georgia Tech and uses his background to design, build, and upgrade much of the equipment for the studio.
